Perhaps one of the best martial arts to consider is Wing Chun form martial arts as taught by IP Man. You’ve likely heard of one of his students, Bruce Lee the Kung Fu icon.
In The movie trilogy, IP Man, the film takes a biographical look at the life of this individual, and how he became a grandmaster of Wing Chun. As one would expect, there are a number of exceptional fight scenes in the film. IP man shows his leadership qualities in the film also, as he takes the time to stand up to those who are oppressing the Japanese people. As he does this, he leads of arm from the town to help settle the score. This lead to five leadership qualities becoming very apparent in the film.
The first of the leadership qualities is that humility goes a long way.
Although Ip Man is considered a leading martial arts expert, he has never had to prove who he is. Instead, his humility led him to make incredible friends among the people of the city. This trait can often be found in leaders. Even though you are the smartest and even the most capable in a group of people, if you remain humble, you will find that you gain the respect of more people than those who do not. If instead you decide to act like a badass, rush into battle and try to overthrow people, you will end up humiliated. Very similar to the man who came from the North in the film.RELATED:

For the second of the leadership qualities, there’s the fact that your values make you a leader
When the film ends, Ip Man manages to rally the town’s residents with ease. This is achieved through a combination of his strong values and the abilities he possesses. A leader is someone who not only needs to be able to get people to follow him, but also be someone whose values make you want him to succeed. When you are leading others, it is imperative that you take the time to think about what you believe in and do your best to ultimately stand out in the sea and make people feel obligated to follow you. All of this is possible, and all you have to do is demonstrate these leadership qualities in what you do every day.The next of the leadership qualities is that Balance is the key to life
While you watch the movie, you’ll notice that Ip Man is someone who is very family orientated. He is a cool and collected individual and has the ability to sensibly handle conflict as it arises. This is shown in more than just how he presents himself, it also is in his fighting style as well. In fact, you’ll find that as a leader, you’ll have the ability to understand that success does not come from going after a single cause. Instead, it comes from building a degree of balance in all areas of your life. While this will take some time for you to master, it will always be worth it in the end.For the next of the leadership qualities, you have emotional intelligence
In this case, it is the ability to see not only your emotions, but also the emotions of others. They can understand people’s different feelings and label them accordingly. They can then take what they know and approach situations with a clear mind. They will know what to expect and will be able to avoid situations that could get out of hand due to miscommunication. The final item for these leadership qualities is situational leadership
This is perhaps the most fundamental of the group. In this case, it is the understanding that there isn’t a single style of leadership that is better than another. Instead, leadership is ultimately task relevant. Those who are able to adapt their leadership style to influence a group and individuals will be the most effective, much like what happened in the film Ip Man. Remember that every task and every situation will have its own set of needs.
As you should be able to now see, the film Ip Man featured several different types of leadership styles. When he faced off against the Japanese, he was certain of what he was going to do and he took the lead. This allowed him to master the situation and to ultimately become the hero of the film. You too have the chance to make that happen, all it takes is being sensible with the approach you take, and learning to understand all of the people around you.
