“Enter the Dragon” a Chinese traditional martial arts film of a joint American and Hong Kong production, directed by Robert Clouse in 1973. In addition to Bruce Lee, the main characters were played by actor John Saxon and world karate champion Jim Kelly. Filming took place over three months and, despite a relatively small budget, eventually turned into a commercial success. The picture turned out to be the last completed film with Bruce Lee, who died six days before the premiere, “Enter the Dragon” was Hollywood’s first martial arts film.
The filming took place in collaboration with the American film company Warner Brothers and Hong Kong’s Golden Harvest, with the participation of Bruce Lee’s own Concorde Film studio. Enter the Dragon was a huge success, with a modest $850,000 budget, but despite that, it made $25 million in North America. Worldwide, this amount totaled $ 90 million
In Hong Kong, the film grossed $3.3 million (in local HKD dollars), a huge amount for its time.
