Prey director Dan Trachtenberg has opened up about the possibility of original Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger making a cameo appearance in the sequel. Schwarzenegger portrayed the character Dutch in the original film when he and his military rescue team are pursued by the Predator in South America. His starring role in the film helped make it a classic sci-fi action film, launching a franchise that continues to this day.
Speaking to Variety, Trachtenberg discussed the possibility of Schwarzenegger reprising his role for a cameo in Prey 2. While a sequel to Trachtenberg’s Predator prequel has yet to be confirmed, he believes Schwarzenegger will return for a future installment of the franchise. Table. Why Arnold Schwarzenegger Never did a Predator Sequel
I don’t know how to do things, but I’m learning how to do things. I did learn there was an attempt to have Arnold in ‘Predators’ (2010). All I’ll say is — there’s still time for those guys. They’re still around, and wouldn’t that be awesome?
If a sequel to Prey happened, it would most likely take place in the same time period as the original movie. Since the film’s main character, Naru (Amber Midthunder) and Schwarzenegger’s Dutch are separated by hundreds of years in the timeline, it would be impossible for the pair to unite onscreen. However, that couldn’t stop Dutch from appearing in a short flash-forward that gives additional context to the film. There is also the possibility of him returning to the franchise in an all-new role.
The next Predator movie could also follow a completely different story than Predator, instead we’ll see Dutch fighting Predators again in the present day. However, since Schwarzenegger was not in Predator 2 or any of the other sequels, it is unclear whether he will return to the franchise in film form. However, the actor voiced Dutch in the video game Predator: Hunting Ground, which is a good sign that Schwarzenegger may return to the screen as Dutch.
It’s unclear where the Predator franchise will go next, but Schwarzenegger’s return, even in a small cameo, could tie together the many different films in the franchise. His reappearance could also help usher the franchise into a new era, just like Prey did. However, only time will tell whether Schwarzenegger will return to the franchise and how significant his role will be.
