Tyson is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. Tyson won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round. Claiming his first belt at 20 years, four months, and 22 days old, Tyson holds the record as the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title. He was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, as well as the only heavyweight to unify them in succession.

Mike Tyson had many meetings with different people, some of whom became physical and ugly. One of the most interesting stories related to “Iron Mike” is the alleged fight between him and Blade’s actor Wesley Snipes. This story became known after Tyson’s former bodyguard Rudy Gonzalez wrote about it in his candid book “Inner Ring”. According to Gonzalez, the former heavyweight champion once knocked out Snipes in a restaurant toilet because of a fight with a woman. Gonzalez claimed that Tyson met a woman named Hope, who left one night and told Mike that she was going to visit a friend.

Gonzalez said that Tyson instructed him to follow her, which, according to him, he did, and found out that the friend whom she visited was a Hollywood actor. Gonzalez said that he informed Tyson about the situation, and he soon arrived at the restaurant. Presumably, he ran into Snipes, who asked him to speak with him in private. Tyson’s former bodyguard said that they entered the bathroom and after a couple of minutes they heard a loud noise inside, and then Tyson came out alone. About Wesley Snipes:

Snipes began training in martial arts when he was 12 years old. He has a 5th degree black belt in Shotokan karate and a 2nd degree black belt in Hapkido. He has also trained in Capoeira under Mestre Jelon Vieira and in a number of other disciplines including Kung Fu at the USA Shaolin Temple and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing. During his time in New York, Snipes was trained in fighting by his friend and mentor Brooke Ellis. Snipes has been married twice, first to April Snipes (née Dubois), with whom he has a son Jelani, who had a cameo role in Snipes’ 1990 film Mo’ Better Blues. In 2003, Snipes married painter Nakyung “Nikki” Park, with whom he has four children.

Mike Tyson and Wesley Snipes have both denied that they got fight with one another. Sportscasting reported that a few years after The Inner Ring was released, Snipes appeared on The Howard Stern Show and said that Mike Tyson’s former bodyguard made up the story. Tyson, for his part, clarified in his best-selling autobiography, Undisputed Truth that he did confront Snipes, but nothing ever got physical. He likewise said that he was never romantically involved with Hope and that they were only friends. Apparently, Hope had gotten involved with Snipes but they had split up while Tyson was out of town. “A few days later I made plans to meet Hope at RnB. I sat next to her and asked her how school was, when we saw Wesley Snipes walk in. I excused myself and walked over to him. Wesley looked up, saw me, and panicked. ‘Mike, please don’t hit me in my face, that’s how I make a living,’ he said. ‘Man, don’t worry about that thing with Hope. She’s just hurt.’ We both laughed about it.”
