Hello friends. Max Zhang, also known as Jin Zhang, was born on May 19, 1974 in China. He is a Hong Kong actor and stuntman as well as a martial artist. Max has been professionally engaged in wushu since his youth. His idols, like all Chinese children of that time, were the great Bruce Lee and the young Jackie Chan. It was these action movie stars that inspired Max to reach the same heights as they did. He trained as disciplined as possible, not missing a single Wushu class. His goal was not only to learn how to fight, but also to learn all fighting styles. His workouts were as hard as possible, to the point that Max, when he came home, immediately fell on the bed and fell asleep. But he was not going to give up, but rather strengthened his body and fighting spirit even more.
He entered the top 10 and joined the Sichuan Wushu team at the age of 11. Soon Max reached the level of national competitions in different sub-styles of wushu. He won a gold and a silver medal at the seventh and eighth National Games. In 1998, Max left the big sport and moved into the film industry. He already had experience filming in the film “The Law on the Edge.” Initially, Max worked as a stuntman and understudy, including in the popular action movie called Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Max’s acting debut was the role of Steve in the adventure film Tomb Raiders. After working as a stunt double and stunt double for several years, he made his acting debut in the 2002 drama Ten Minutes Older, directed by Chen Kaige and Werner Herzog.
He played the following significant roles in the films “My Lucky Star” and “The Grand Master” directed by Wong Kar Wai. In 2014, he worked with stars such as Sammo Hung and Eddie Peng in the action biopic Rise of a Legend. The following year, he starred in two more popular action films, these are “Stars of Destiny 2” and the third film about the life of the great master Yip Man, directed by Wilson Yip. In the last film, Max showed himself properly, not nearly inferior in wushu to other masters of this film. And his duel with Tony Jaa was worthy of the attention of the audience, since both actors fought among themselves absolutely without a single plan, improvisingly repelling blows and going on the counterattack. Also, Max, being a stuntman, performed absolutely all the tricks on his own.
Later in his career there were less successful films in the screening, these are “Drug Threat” and “Invincible Dragon”. In 2018, he played the role of Marshal Kwan in the sequel to the science fiction action movie Pacific Rim 2. At the moment, the actor continues to act in films and is actively involved in martial arts. He believes that he has found his main business in life and actively puts his soul into his work. We wish him success in his film career and new films. Like and subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss the next video.
