The WTF Taekwondo Lays prime importance on Kicks with lot of feet shuffling & movement with high kicks. The older ITF system is bit different with more traditional approach and also employs importance on hand techniques. Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art. There a a big emphasis on doing forms (kata), point sparring with specialized gear, and larger focus on belt testing (in the U.S.). Jiu Jitsu is closer related to Hapkido. Jiu Jitsu generally consists of using joint locks and using the opponent’s weight and momentum agaisnt them. There are hand strikes used the distract, but very few if any kicks. Jiu Jitsu is mostly kicks some hands strikes.

Its mainly stand up, some schools teach break falls etc. jiu jitsu is primarily a grappling art based on locks, sweeps and a couple of throws. Japanese jiu jitsu is more balanced in that it has aspects o stand up fighting as well as groundwork. Brazillian jiu jitsu is mostly ground based.
