Jean-Claude Van Damme Named His Top 3 Favorite Fight Scenes Of All Time

The martial arts star and the legendary action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, also known as JCVD, has graced the silver screen with countless remarkable action sequences throughout his career. There have been several fan discussions surrounding the best fight scenes of the actor, from several movies, including Kickboxer and Universal Soldier. One of the movies that often makes it to the top among his best films is Bloodsport, and the actor has also named it among his favorites as he listed down his top three favorite fight scenes during an interview with Men’s Health.

1. Final Fight With Chong Li in Bloodsport (1988)

Bloodsport is one of the greatest films of his career, which also served as his breakout film. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a U.S. Army Captain, Frank Dux, who gets invited to an illegal Hong Kong fighting tournament. While the movie features several of them, the action star has named Frank Dux’s fight scene with Chong Li, portrayed by Bolo Yeung in the film, as his favorite.
“Of course, the fight scene with Bolo in Bloodsport,” he said. Not just the scene, the movie is considered to be one of the best action movies of the 80s. Bolo Yeung’s Chong Li is also regarded as one of the best villains of that era who competes against Frank Dux for the title of the martial arts tournament.

2. Final Fight With Atilla in Lionheart (1990)

Since his breakthrough in the 1988 martial arts action film, Jean-Claude Van Damme has gone on to star in some of the best films of his career, including Kickboxer and Lionheart. And the latter really allowed the actor to show off his cool moves. Listing his top three favorite fight scenes, the actor said, “Lionheart has a great fight scene.” In the film, he plays Lyon Gautier, who participates in underground street fighting to support his sick brother’s family, which is experiencing a financial crisis. His last fight was with Attila, played in the film by former boxer Abdel Kissi.

3. Garage Fight Scene in The Bouncer (2019)

Jean-Claude Van Damme listed the action thriller The Bouncer, originally released as Lukas as his third favorite fight scene of his career. “In the movie called Lukas, a French movie,” he said before further stating, “And we have a fight scene in the garage on the ground.” The movie follows the story of Lukas, portrayed by Van Damme, a bouncer, who is offered to clean up his criminal record by helping police spy on a criminal organization. The scene showcases the action star’s enduring skills as he becomes the last man standing in the room by taking the others down.
