Red Eagle (2011) Águila Roja
Águila Roja (English: Red Eagle) is a Spanish adventure television series set in Spain during the 17th century. It was produced by Globomedia for Televisión Española and was broadcast on La 1 of Televisión Española from 2009 to 2016. It is one of the channel’s most successful shows, and its rights have been sold to several countries. The aim of the show was to capitalize on the success of Televisión Española’s period dramas such as Cuéntame cómo pasó, La Señora or Amar en tiempos revueltos, but at the same time aiming for mature audiences with a masked hero in the style of Zorro or Green Arrow as the main character. Many of the latter shows carry warnings that they are for mature audiences only.Plot:
Early XVII century. A summit between France, England, Portugal and the Pope is to take place in Spain, home of the masked hero known as Red Eagle. The countries are coming together under the guise of looking for a solution to the conflict between Spain and Portugal; however, the ulterior motive is to attack the Kingdom of Spain. The Marchioness of Santillana and her fellow conspirators have hired an assassin to finish off the Red Eagle to guarantee the outcome of their plot. The townspeople and the whole kingdom will be at the mercy of the traitors, but the Red Eagle will be there to help them.Red Eagle takes place in 1660, where Portugal, France and England are all trying to take over Spain. A masked man known as, Aguila Roja (“Red Eagle”), is the hero among people, a man who fights for justice, meets a beautiful blonde women, looking for the aid of Red Eagle. Angered and grieved by a random accident, Red Eagle decides to pull one last heroic deed. During all this, there is a summit going on between Spain, Portugal, France and England, during which something disastrous happens and it affects the whole city.
