There’s Only One Way Rambo Will Continue Insists Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone has revealed that he would only agree to make another Rambo movie if it focused on a young John Rambo and served as an origin story. Sylvester Stallone has revealed the main requirements he has for creating another Rambo sequel. MovieWeb reported that the action star recently responded to a fan on social media who asked about a potential Rambo sequel, noting that he would only do it “as a streaming prequel or not at all.” This isn’t the first time Stallone has talked about exploring the origin story of Vietnam War veteran John Rambo.
In fact, last year the actor and director said that he “always thought about Rambo when [the character] was 16 or 17 years old.” “I hope they can do a prequel – he was the best man you could find,” Stallone added. “He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and it was the war that changed him. If you saw him before, he looked like the perfect guy.” The Rambo franchise began in 1982 with First Blood, followed by four more films: Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), Rambo (2008) and “Rambo: Last Blood” (2019).
In the final installment, Last Blood, John Rambo’s peaceful life is suddenly interrupted when his friend Gabriela’s granddaughter disappears in Mexico. As a result, Rambo came out of retirement to rescue Gabriela from the local cartels and begin a cycle of revenge. Although the film was a flop and received several Razzie Award nominations, it grossed $91.5 million worldwide against a $50 million budget.

The Rambo franchise also spawned the animated series Rambo: Force to Free, as well as comic books, novels, video games and a Bollywood remake. Stallone’s latest comments about a potential prequel come just months after Canadian artist Ryan Villiers unveiled a huge statue of John Rambo in Hope, Canada. The statue is located in the same location where Rambo: First Blood was filmed and was unveiled on August 14.
