Kalaripayattu:

Kalaripayattu is an Indian martial art that originated in present-day Kerala, a state on the southwestern coast of India. knowledge of art should be used to achieve worthy goals, and not to advance one’s own selfish interests. Kalaripayattu is a martial art developed for the ancient battlefield (Kalari means “battlefield”), with weapons and fighting techniques unique to Kerala. Kalaripayattu differs from many other systems of martial arts in the world in that techniques with weapons are taught first and bare-handed techniques are taught last. Kalaripayattu includes strikes, kicks, grabs, preset forms, weapons, and healing techniques. Warriors trained in Kalaripayattu used very light and simple armor, as it was difficult to maintain flexibility and mobility in heavy armor.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai, also known as the Art of Eight Limbs, is a traditional martial art that originated in Thailand as early as the 18th century. Many people commonly refer to it as Muay Thai. Muay Thai is called the “Art of Eight Limbs” or “The Science of Eight Limbs” because it uses punches, kicks, elbows and knees, thus using eight “points of contact”. This, of course, is in contrast to the “two points” (fists) in boxing and the “four points” (arms and legs) used in other more regimented martial arts such as kickboxing. A practitioner of Thai boxing is known as nak muay. Now Thai boxing is a sport in which two participants hit each other with their hands, elbows, legs and knees.
